Position Purpose

To lead the planning, development, localization, costing, and implementation of locally manufactured automotive components for current and future vehicle programs. The role is responsible for achieving localization targets, reducing vehicle cost through local sourcing, coordinating with government authorities for regulatory approvals, supporting new model launches, and ensuring timely development of quality local parts meeting OEM standards.

Job Description

• Lead end-to-end product development and localization of automotive components from concept to production.
• Develop localization strategies, annual plans, and long-term roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Identify localization opportunities through feasibility studies, Make vs Buy analysis, and cost evaluations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Sales, and Marketing.
• Manage local supplier identification, evaluation, development, and performance improvement activities.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments, technical audits, and support APQP/PPAP processes.
• Review engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and ensure compliance with OEM standards.
• Manage ECR/ECN, prototype development, product validation, and new model development activities.
• Perform cost analysis, target costing, supplier quotation reviews, and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Coordinate with EDB and regulatory authorities for localization approvals, documentation, and compliance requirements.
• Manage project timelines, milestones, risks, and ensure timely completion of localization projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, localization databases, reports, and provide progress updates to management.

Experience and Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
• 10 to 15 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, product development, or localization.

Specific Requirements

• Strong knowledge of automotive components, supplier development, APQP, PPAP, and quality standards.
• Experience in cost analysis, localization projects, and cross-functional project management.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
